HOW CAN YOU BEAT A MACHINE THAT ALWAYS WINS?

Charlatan is a spooky roguelike slot machine where every spin is a turn – and cheating is the only way to survive.
Build synergies, manage risk, and rig the reels with magnets, tickets, and stickers to flip the odds.
Escape a cursed cartoon amusement park by beating its corrupted showmen… and paying in souls.

EVERY SPIN IS A RISK

Every spin is a turn – and every turn is a decision.
Weigh the odds, manage your resources, and choose when to push your luck.
Build synergies between reels, buy consumables and upgrades – then adapt on the fly as the park twists the rules and raises the stakes.

CHEAT IT TIL YOU BEAT IT

Customize your slots, slap on magnets, rip up tickets, trigger stickers, and watch chaos spill out of the machine.
Cheat the system, forge outcomes, flip the odds.
These are slots. Your soul is at stake. There’s no room for honesty here.

THE SHOW MUST GO ON

A vintage cartoon world where the laughter never stops – and neither does the hunger for prey.
Every spin lights up the screen with slapstick chaos… and a reminder that you’re paying with your soul.

Frankly, the balance on this game is absolutely terrible. Most of the Magnets are quite awful (three matches of a specific tile type to get one energy, which if that procs on the last spin of the round is completely wasted). The shop in between offers very little that is helpful (I got a 20% bonus at one point to only wild tiles), or a magnet that needs three of a specific match three times to get a measly +0.5 multiplier to horizontal matches for the rest of the round (which can also be wasted on the final spin of a round before a jackpot). The burning a tile in the store being random of four tiles is horrible (It gave me a choice between a two clovers, a scatter, and a bell, when I had 24 lower value tiles) and being able to undo a sticker selection when you haven't continued yet is also a bit janky (I didn't know you couldn't put two stickers on one tile, and therefore wasted a sticker). I am also not sure why you would ever unlock more slots in the shop, you simply do not get enough souls per round for it to matter.

The very limited energy being your only way to affect anything doesn't help either, when I get 8 swaps or 4 discards (1 energy for a swap, 2 for discards) to make a large sum, it doesn't work terribly well. There is also the issue of how you get very few souls to increase your very limited scoring, and then the difficulty spike after the third boss increases the jackpot from 3500 to 4900. The pentagram combo thing only does anything if you make five different matches (which when you have four reels and three rows, is very difficult) and does nothing 99% of the time. The tickets (this games consumables like tarot cards from balatro) are ok.

Overall, this game needs significantly more balance reworks before it even comes close.
